Current Exhibit
art & design by Kristi Antonneau
Aside from nature itself, I am attracted to Japanese prints because
of their serene beauty, muted colors and textures. I have also always
loved folk art for it’s playfulness, color and imperfect qualities.
Wood is a beautiful and sturdy surface to paint upon. Certain fabrics
and papers from french soaps or note cards I receive from friends,
I put into art rather than a recycling bin, because they are too pretty
not to reuse. I also find the texture and colors of yellow pages and
newspapers irresistible. Who knows how much longer they will be in print?
When creating collage art, paper gets torn, wrinkled and distressed,
often intentionally. I find this all part of the joy and expression of creating
original art. Giclee and manufactured art lacks the hand of the artist
and the value of “one-of-a-kind” original art.
